Barcelona | 8 Wine Bars Locals Actually Love

In a country as saturated with wine as Spain, it’s still worth seriously exploring its little wine bars. Based on recommendations from local friends and some research, I mapped out two smooth drinking routes — 8 bars in total, all walkable, which let me eat, drink, and wander the whole way through 🚶.

🍷 La Vinya del Senyor
A traditional, professional wine bar I go back to every time. The selection includes plenty of boutique bottles you won’t find elsewhere, and almost everyone on staff can point you precisely toward what you’re after. You can order half-glasses too, which satisfies curiosity without any pressure. It has outdoor seating built in, works well solo or with friends.

🍷 L’Ànima del Vi
Also in the old town, a natural wine bar run by an adorable elderly couple working the counter. The uncle will ask what style you’re after, then pull a bottle and pour you a full glass — the selection quality is consistently strong. It stocks a huge range of by-the-glass options; I went through a whole round and still hadn’t finished sampling the wineries around Barcelona 🤦. Great for a 2nd or 3rd stop of the night.

🍷 Bar Brutal
Right next door to the one above, also natural wine, with a bit more energy to it. Leans more toward a food-forward wine bar — the menu is complete and creative, and the pea ricotta is excellent. By the glass is mostly natural wine, with half-pours available, but full bottles open up way more options with richer regional variety.
Good wine, good food, warm people, relaxed vibe — a spot plenty of people in Barcelona’s restaurant industry love. Even ran into the owner of a bar I’d visited earlier.

🍷 Món Vínic – Bar de Vins i Formatges 🧀
A more modern wine bar, widely regarded as Barcelona’s most professional. Open from daytime, with 3,000+ wine labels, dozens of by-the-glass options, and all kinds of cheese too.
Sommelier-level expertise per table here, and extremely introvert-friendly.

🍷 Bocanariz Wine Bar
A very cozy natural wine bar with great music atmosphere. Mostly orange wines, plenty of vinyl too — they’ll even cut a record to match what guests are into. The food is the chef’s own creative cooking, breaking convention without feeling forced. Light and comfortable eating.

🍷 La Graciosa
A place that lets you fully unwind. There’s an unusually lively sommelier who seems to pick bottles at random but somehow always lands exactly right. More of the wines here come from small producers across the whole Mediterranean region. More interesting wine selection than the spot above, but there’s basically nothing to eat.

🍷 Bodega Marín Celler Marín
An old bar right next door, gotten even more popular after appearing on local TV. Worth experiencing for the atmosphere, but the food and drink are just average.

🍷 Gresca
A natural wine bar where the food outshines the wine. Very creative, full of flavor — the highlights are mainly in the starters and desserts, with the mains a bit weaker.

⭐️ Routes
A. One night, three stops: 1️⃣ → 3️⃣ → 2️⃣ (there’s also good tapas nearby, like Cal Pep or El Xampanyet, but neither takes reservations)
B. Lunch: 8️⃣ → 4️⃣; Dinner: 5️⃣ → 7️⃣ → 8️⃣ (8️⃣ can also be swapped for Paco Merago)

Out of curiosity about Barcelona’s wine bar scene, I drank more natural wine than I have in years — but with this level of curation, the wines were genuinely easy to drink, each one distinct in its own interesting way.

So here’s wishing everyone a great time drinking on your next trip ~!
